18 weeks & GENDER REVEAL!

First let me apologize for well overdue update. My mind has been all over the place lately and I keep forgetting to update! So we found out that we are having two…………BOYS!!! Matt and I are both so excited! Now we can start picking out names and designing the nursery. I promise to start blogging more often and including weekly “Pregnancy Highlights” from now on!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 18 Weeks

What’s going on with the babies: Your baby is about 5 to 5 1/2 inches long from top to tail and weighs a little more than five ounces, about the size of a lobster tail. While in earlier weeks, your baby may have been able to sense sound with his primitive ear structures, this week, the bones of the ear become fully formed along with the part of his brain that processes signals from his ears. There's still plenty of room in your uterus, so your fetus can be quite active with his new muscles. He may change positions frequently, cross his legs, recline, suck his thumb, and turn somersaults. His retinas have become light sensitive, and your baby may be able to detect a glow if you shine bright lights at your belly (even though his eyelids are sealed).

What’s going on with Mom: I finally started to get my energy back but heartburn and indigestion have taken over. I haven’t been able to sleep at night and I’m currently trying every remedy in the book. I can feel the little beans moving throughout the day and they are most active when I lay down and just after I eat! I’m REALLY showing now and complete strangers have started to ask me when I’m due. So far the biggest craving I have had is chips and queso and the only thing I haven’t been able to eat is pizza and meat.

What’s going on with Dad: Matt has started to talk to my belly every night! He asks me every day if I felt the babies move and when. He is very protective and always making sure that I don’t overdo it. Lately he has been talking a lot about names.

There you have it. 18 weeks and growing!!!

I found these cute onesies at http://www.newbornmom.com/ and thought I would share!  Matt and I decided that after our appointment on October 4th when we find out what we are having, we are going straight to buy the little beans their first outfits!  I'm so excited!

12 WEEKS!!!

We made it!!  Matt and I are so excited!  I had my 12 week appointment last Thursday and everything went great.  Both beans are doing great!  The sono tec said that he would be able to tell us the gender of the babies in about 2 weeks but my Doctor said they don't need to see me for FOUR weeks! :o(  So my next appointment is October 4th and if the beans are good we will be able to find out what they are!!  Can't wait!!!  Here are the sono pictures from my appt.

TEN AND A HALF WEEKS!!!

I managed to sneak my way in to the Doctor's office one more time before my 12 week visit!  I'm so glad I did because it really helped to ease my nerves!  I got to see the little beans on the big screen and they where so stink'n cute!!  They are already moving around like crazy and you can actually make out body parts!  Only one and a half more weeks till the BIG 12!!  Matt and I are so excited we just can't stand it!!  Here is a picture from the visit today! 

Exciting News!!!

Were pregnant –WITH TWINS!!

Matt and I decided to go ahead and do another cycle with our last two frozen embryos. We have to pay a yearly storage fee and our renewal was up in July so instead of paying the fee we decided to just go for it! I didn’t blog about it because Matt and I wanted to keep it a secret until we know if it worked. Well boy did it! Our first sonogram was yesterday Aug 9th and we got to see two beautiful healthy heartbeats!! We are both so excited that all over our prayers have been answed! We are continuing to pray for a healthy and happy 9 months!! Here are all the details to catch everyone up…

7/6/10 Transferred two 5 day blastocyst embryos

7/20/10 Second Beta - 2361

8/9/10 First Ultrasound - Twins Baby A - 167bpm, Baby B - 168bpm

After what felt like the longest day ever we finally made it to our appointment to find out that I have a blighted ovum.


What is a blighted ovum?
A blighted ovum is a common type of miscarriage. It happens when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus but the resulting embryo either stops developing very early or doesn't form at all. Nowadays, the term "blighted ovum" is considered out of date. Instead, most medical professionals use the term "early pregnancy failure" to describe this situation.

With an early pregnancy failure, you'll get a positive result on a pregnancy test, because the placenta begins to develop anyway and starts to secrete human chorionic gonadtrophin (hCG), the hormone that these tests look for. Early on, you may also have some of the symptoms common in a normal pregnancy, such as fatigue, nausea, and sore breasts. Later, when the hormone levels begin to go down, these symptoms will subside and you're likely to have spotting or bleeding.

I don’t have to have a D & C this time, but the doc gave me some pills that will start contractions and help the miscarriage along.

I guess the silver lining is that now since I have had two miscarriages, my insurance will pay for all the BIG tests that I need to have done. We have found out how to get me pregnant, now we just need to find out why I can’t stay pregnant. So in about a month when Aunt Flow comes I will start taking all the tests. I will update as soon as I know when the tests will be.
