I had my beta on Friday. I was supposed to not get the results back until Sat but HELLO how can they expect a hormonal very impatient infertile gal to wait a whole day??? So my good friend Lauren told me how to make the paper work with STAT myself so that I could get the results on the fly!!!! Thank you Lauren!! So I call the Doctors office around noon and thank the Lord they had the results! I was transferred to my favorite nurse Nina who said, "Congratulations Heather you are pregnant" Whooooooo hooooooo!!!!! I was in the car by myself when I heard those words and I could not believe my ears. I cried for a second then she told me my beta # which I think she said was 293. Then I hurried home to tell Matt and tried to keep from crying the whole way home. As soon as I told Matt I ran to the bathroom to take a at home pee test that I had been holding on to. After 2 1/2 years of trying I have taken somewhere around 100 test and not a single one of them has ever been positive so I could not wait to see that little pink line for the first time!!!! So here it is for all to see my beautiful positive pee stick!!

Meet Our Embryos

Aren't they just the cutest?
Well our transfer went great, the doctor was VERY positive. He said we have a 70% -80% of at least on of the little cupcakes sticking around. So now we wait... I go in for blood work in about 12 days to see if I am indeed preggers!

FYI:
I just wanted to let everyone know that we have no idea what gender the two embryos are that where put in. As you can tell by the bow and hat in the picture I like to think that it was a boy & a girl!

2nd Fertilization Report
Just a quick update...
The nurse call this afternoon and gave us the latest on or baby-cakes!
Out of the 14 embryos (1) did not make it (2) are abnormal and (4) are growing faster then they would like (I have to be proud of the little over achievers but the nurse wants them to slow down or they may not make it). So that leaves us with (7) little cupcakes that are right on track! We will keep hoping and praying that the 7 keep on baking at the same pace. They are still scheduled to transfer 2 of them to their future home in my awaiting belly on Tuesday at 2:00. Wish us LUCK!!

The Retrieval
I had my retrieval yesterday and all went well. I went into the room and was knocked out as soon as I was situated. Then I woke up to Matt and my mom in the recovery room. Matt had to play with every thing in the room and ended up blowing up one of the latex gloves like a balloon and pretending like it was an utter. I felt the need to tell the nurse that we really are mature adults that are capable of taking care of a baby!
The end result was awesome: 26 eggs retrieved!!
Heather = Best Hen EVER!
1st Fertilization Report
Today, I got the news that out of the 26 eggs retrieved, 14 of them fertilized. This is good news, not GREAT news but it is still good news!
Now they go back into the fake uterus incubator thingamajigger to keep growing. They will give us another report on Sunday to let us know how our 14 little embryos are doing.
Right now our Transfer is scheduled for Tuesday at 2:00 so we are hoping and praying that the little guys and girls will hold out till then!

IVF update...
My hormones have been raging and I can hardly fit into my clothes once again! Right now I’m taking baby aspirin, prenatal vitamins, metformin, and two shots a night. I have been letting Matt give me my shots and he has been doing really well! I call him Dr. Kimbrow and it makes him feel important! So, I had another doctor appt today (they have been averaging every three days now). They did blood work and a sono! You have no idea how happy I was to hear that because lately all they have been doing is taking lots of my blood!! Ugggggg I hate giving blood!!! Anyways I found out that I have 22 eggs! The doc said they are all growing at a good pace. So I asked the doc when he thought my retrieval would be and he said it looks like maybe next Wednesday! Wooo-hooo! That is way sooner then I thought! I have an appointment on Sat to see how the little eggs are doing and we should know more of an exact date then.

IVF here we come!!
Wow it has been a while!! I am such a bad blogger – Please forgive me!! I have a lot of catching up to do!
I had my first IVF visit this past Monday and we are all set for take off. I had a sono and blood work and every looked good. I am set for a trial transfer on Thursday then they will tell me when to start the shots. It is looking like the actual procedure will be some time in the middle of June.
I had to break the news to Matt that he has to get blood work done and another “swimmers” analysis before we can do IVF. When I told him he FREAKED OUT!!! Here was his reaction,
“Oh no, nnnn-no-no-no! I can’t give blood. I am terrified of needles and I might pass out! Babe is there any way you can call them and tell them I can’t do it?”
Here was my reaction,
“Are you FREAKING KIDDING ME???? I have been giving myself TONS of shots every night in the stomach, having blood work taken at least once a week and being probed and prodded with the sono wand daily and you are freaking about giving blood one time!!! ONE TIME! JUST ONE TIME!!”
Oh MEN!
I guess I will have to bribe him with BIG RED and REESE’S PIECES.
I've been faking excitement over the beginning of the cycle, because to me it really feels like I'm on my tippie toes at the edge of a cliff and when I take that first shot of Lupron, I take the big leap. The big leap being IVF, and IVF being OUR LAST CHANCE.
When I first wandered into the world of infertility, I used to surf blogs and message boards trying to find people in worse situations that me. I would read the Trouble TTC board on the Nest and see signatures with "TTC 24 months, TTC 36 months" and think, "Wow, I'm glad that's not me."
Now that it's me, I feel an intense amount of pressure. Pressure to do this cycle while working and helping Matt with all his band projects. Pressure to be a mother. Pressure to provide my husband with a biological child that we could not have without science. Pressure to give my mom a grandchild because I am an only child. Pressure to make this life that I want to happen, happen.
Back in the beginning, I felt like there was a long line between myself and IVF. Temping, then OPK's with Temping, then Clomid with IUI cycles, then IUI with injectibles for a few cycles, then if “H-E-double L” froze over, IVF.
It's awfully cold here in “H-E-double L”.
Sorry I’m not very good at cussing so I have to spell things out.

We wish you a Merry Christmas!
I hope that everyone had a very merry Christmas and was able to take the time to remember what the true meaning of Christmas is really all about! Here are a few pictures of Christmas at our house and a few of the kiddos (by kiddos I mean our dog children!) As you can see form the pictures that we had a ton of presents under the tree and we all got some really great gifts! I do hope that in the next year we can convince the rest of the family to forgo all the presents and spend more time just celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Our living room full of gifts!
